Gatekeeper helps protect users by allowing you to choose to only download and install software from known developers, like Microsoft. Standalone updates will be rejected by Mountain Lion's new security feature, Gatekeeper, that prevents third-party applications not recognised as Apple developers from executing. Mountain Lion ships with a new feature called Gatekeeper.Anyone still running an older version of Office for Mac will be pleased to hear. Initiate AutoUpdate in any Office for Mac application by going to your toolbar, then selecting “Help” and then “Check for Updates.” You have to use Microsoft AutoUpdate to keep the productivity suite current. Amid all of the fuss being made about Apple’s new OS X Mountain Lion, Microsoft published a note on their blog assuring users that both Microsoft Office for Mac 2008 and Office for Mac 2011 are fully compatible with Mountain Lion.
